Day 3 – 8 Days in Jerusalem
Theme – The Greatest Hero
Verse – Isaiah 53:11, He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities.
Who is your favorite superhero? Why are they your favorite? Modern superhero stories are contemporary sequels to the Greatest Hero of All-Time. Superheroes are known for their great abilities and tragic stories. For their heroic exploits and great tragedy. Oftentimes, the greater the superhero the greater the personal cost or sacrifice has to be paid. The superhero stories that we celebrate today began with the Greatest Superhero story ever. Some 600 years before Jesus was born, the prophet Isaiah penned the words concerning the Messiah in Isaiah 53. The Messiah is the Righteous Servant who would justify the many. He would bear the world’s iniquities, or sins. The Messiah would suffer for the sake of humanity, so that humanity could be saved. What a Savior! What a Hero! Let’s take a few minutes today and ponder the legacy of the Messiah and the price that He paid for you and me. As you ponder, grow in appreciation for the One, the Only, The Greatest Hero of all – Jesus.
Prayer for today –
Dear Lord,
Thank you for the gift of salvation. We recognize this gift came at a great cost to You. Help me grow in appreciation and love for You who sacrificed so much for me. I did not deserve Your mercy or Your grace. But because of Your love for me, You suffered and died for my sins. Your bore my iniquities. I thank You. I love You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
